Group departure confirmation

Minimum group sizes vary by journey. If a scheduled departure has no confirmed travellers 30 days before it begins, it may be cancelled. A new booking made within 30 days of departure can normally proceed when at least three travellers are confirmed. We will tell you the status before taking a non-refundable payment.

Yangtze cruise gratuities

Cruise gratuities are not included and are paid directly on board. Current reference amounts are RMB 200 per person on Century Cruises and RMB 150 per person on Victoria Cruises; gratuities are not compulsory on President and Gold cruises. The cruise operator's onboard policy takes precedence.

Cancellation and date changes

A requested date change is charged at 50% of the cancellation fee that would otherwise apply; the price of the new departure is then applied.

We recommend travel insurance that covers cancellation.

• 50% at 7–14 days before departure
• 100% from 0–6 days before departure

Children

Children aged 12 or under using their own bed pay the adult tour price. For a child sharing without an extra bed, the single-room supplement is deducted and any confirmed child admission savings are refunded. Infants under two are charged 10% of the applicable domestic airfare; Yangtze cruise journeys also carry an RMB 270 infant charge.

Hotels and room arrangements

Hotels are selected from the stated category according to availability and value; a specific hotel cannot be guaranteed. Upgrades to a higher category within the same hotel may be requested from RMB 100 per room per night, subject to confirmation. Extra beds must be requested early. Room sharing is not guaranteed and should be requested at least 10 days before departure. On cruise itineraries, releasing one berth reduces the tour price by RMB 2,000 per person. Reference pre- or post-tour nights are RMB 550 per room in Beijing and RMB 450 in Shanghai.

Arrival and departure transfers

Shared driver transfers are included on the official first and last tour days for arrivals from 08:00–22:00 and departures from 09:00–23:00. Shared arrivals may involve a wait of up to about 90 minutes. Transfers outside these dates or hours are charged separately. Standard private driver transfers are RMB 300 per trip for a 5-seat vehicle or RMB 400 for a 7-seat vehicle; driver-and-guide service is RMB 500 or RMB 600, plus RMB 100 for early or late service. Chengdu Tianfu Airport rates are RMB 480/580 driver-only and RMB 780/880 with guide. Beijing Daxing rates are RMB 400/550 driver-only and RMB 550/800 with guide. Vehicle size is shown as 5-seat/7-seat and all services are subject to availability.

Booking deadlines

Bookings normally close seven days before departure, or 15 days before journeys involving Tibet or a Yangtze cruise. Later requests are welcome and will be checked individually against permits, transport, rooms and guide availability.
